Unexpected Fun

Posted by on June 14, 2013

I always emphasize that when traveling with kids you should bring plenty of toys and activities to keep them occupied. For an idea on what toys I pack for a toddler, click here. However, it’s also important to be open to “non-toy” items that can entertain. With infants it can be quite entertaining  to see what catches their interest. When Ella was between 3-7 months she was obsessed with lamp posts and ceiling fans. She would carry on lengthy “conversations” with them.

On my last flight with John he discovered the arm rest. The push button and tiny silver screw were so interesting to him. He “talked” loudly to this armrest for 10 minutes. I tried to keep him from being too loud, but couldn’t help but smile at his fascination. Who would have thought an armrest would provide such a great distraction?

What unexpected things do/did your babies or kids like that keep them occupied for a while?
